In spite of... or perhaps because of... the probable bollocks this film will be, I'll be going to see it on the big screen. If Veidt lives I'll likely
leave pissed. I'll invite my brother ( a non-fanboy, but a fan of the movie genre nonetheless) to join me just to get an unbiased perspective.

Buying my tickets this week, gonna catch it with 3 pals, one who hates Moore and think he's an obtusive pretentious prick, other who enjoys his work and
another who's neutral as far as I know. And me, who goes join Moore boards and makes Rorschaches and V's in 3d for lack of anything else inspiring. I
posted earlier this week that there is some fake-ish quality to some of the background characters I've seen on the differente media warner has shoved out
the door so far that I don't like, it makes the film look funny in a bad way. However, I at least expect to find the sights artistically and nerdily
reediming.

A local physics professor was a consultant for the film, and was excited about the detail he was asked to divulge (ie. Physics lab looks circa 1959 as well as 1985). IMAX will be the venue of choice. Bought tickets last week for the local midnight sneak. Looks like there's plenty there to enjoy... don't know if it's going to add up to a decent
Watchmen movie or if the term "decent Watchmen movie" will remain in my mind an oxymoron.
Zack's position that replacing the squidgina with just any old thing will do just skippy... is worrisome to me. It would seem that he missed some of the more relevant image systems running though the book that added up to some major themes. I suspect that, like V for Vendetta, I will love parts and hate the whole. But we shall see. |

I just cancelled my reservation at the Northampton Inn. I figure I'll look a right cunt wandering the streets alone with only my gift-wrapped box set of
The Wire to keep me company.
I'm sticking to my guns and have absolutely no intention of seeing this. I look forward to seeing what you guys think, though. One thing I am looking forward to is Zack directing something of his own creation instead of adaptations or remakes (or commercials). |

Read a review attributed to the LA Times which called it campy and unevenly acted. I'm going anyway. Worse case scenario: I'll be in the back row doing the Mystery Theatre 3000 version...

MST3K was filmed right down the street from me (well, 10 miles down the street, anyway). I don't know the guys, but I saw one of the actresses in a play a
few years ago- she left a bit to be desired, unfortunately. Still love the Servo, though.
Got my IMAX tickets for Saturday night. Trying to avoid reviews until then. The wife knows next to nothing about the story, so maybe she'll enjoy it regardless. Hurm. |

Seeing the filim tomorrow morning. Looking forward to your review, Vynson. Nice to see you popping up at that WCM forum to give 'em a heads up on that. I have ceased to contribute there, I just lurk around for interesting news. Seems the owners feel it's ok for a long-time poster to call me a "f***ing c**t' and such like repeatedly without taking any action. Free speech! Wonderful. The movie... will be compromised. 20 minutes gone from the director's cinematic cut at the studio's behest. Apparently it's a little disjointed as a result. More tomorrow...

Not that I have ever thought I wouldn't see it. It seems as if some of Snyder's choices have missed the mark a bit, but I am more than ready to make up
my own mind.

I saw that The Onion had an interview with Jackie Haley; no new real news, but I found
it interesting. I didn't see it online yet, and I didn't read the review, but I saw that they gave Watchmen a "B" overall- not too
bad considering some of the other review headlines I've spied lately.
Also, more graphic novels that should be ripped out of their original medium! |
